Terms & Refund Policy

Last updated June 2026

The short version: Your $299 deposit pays for real research and isn't refundable once we've started — with one exception: we promise at least four generations, and if we can't reach that, you're refunded in full. You see your finished tree before it prints, and we revise until every detail is right.

1. What you're buying

Rooted provides custom family-history research and a hand-designed family tree. Your order is delivered as a high-resolution digital file, and — if you choose the Heirloom edition — as a printed poster shipped to you. Frames are not included.

2. The deposit (and why it's non-refundable)

A $299 deposit is due to begin, and we start your research promptly. Because that deposit pays for research time we spend specifically on your family, it is non-refundable once research has begun — with one exception: our four-generation promise (below). It is never charged twice. If you choose the printed Heirloom edition, the remaining $300 is due when your tree is ready to print.

3. Our accuracy guarantee — we fix it, we don't bill you again

Before anything is finalized or printed, we send you a proof. You review every name, date, and place. If something is wrong, we revise it at no additional cost until it is right. Our promise is correction, not a refund: we keep digging and keep adjusting until the tree reflects what the records show. Nothing prints until you've seen the finished tree.

4. Backed by real sources — and honest about what isn't certain

Genealogy is an evidence-based craft, not an exact science. We build your tree from genuine historical records — censuses, church and civil registers, immigration, military, and similar primary sources — and we give you the citations and document images behind the connections, so you can see the proof for yourself. Because old records are sometimes incomplete, damaged, inconsistent, or were written down by others a long time ago, some links rest on the strongest available evidence rather than absolute certainty. Where a connection isn't yet fully verified, we mark it clearly (for example, highlighted in yellow on your tree) so you always know what's confirmed and what's still being researched. We take accuracy seriously and will gladly review and correct any error you bring to us — but we can't warrant that every detail is complete or error-free, and our trees are made for personal and family enjoyment, not legal, medical, or financial use.

5. Our four-generation promise

We promise every tree reaches at least four generations — back to your great-grandparents. We trace further whenever the records allow, and we clearly mark anything uncertain; we never invent or pad names. If the records can't take us back four generations for your family, your deposit is refunded in full — you're not charged a cent.

6. Delivery

Your finished digital file is delivered once your tree is complete. Printed posters are produced and shipped after final payment. We'll keep you posted on timing along the way.

7. Revisions vs. new scope

Free revisions cover accuracy — correcting names, dates, places, and spellings. A change in scope (for example, re-centering the tree on a different person, or adding substantial new lines after delivery) may be quoted as separate work.

8. Your information & privacy

You give us permission to use the details you share to research and build your tree. We only use them for that purpose, and we don't sell your information.

9. Questions

Reach out any time and we'll make it right. Family is the whole point.
